Camping at Pickin’ in the Pines

There are plenty of opportunities to camp at Pickin’ in the Pines, whether you’re staying in a small tent or a large RV.  FFOTM has reserved and will manage two areas for open camping.  The Coconino County Parks and Recreation Department manages the main Coconino County Fairgrounds Campground.  All camping areas are a moderate, 1/8 to 1/4 mile walk to the Pine Mountain Amphitheater.  The campgrounds connect to the Flagstaff Urban Trail system, where you can hike or bike for miles.

Camping Options:

Essentially, you have three options for camping at Pickin’ in the Pines:

Option 1 - The FFOTM Campground.  FFOTM has reserved the large Group Camping area at the Fairgrounds.  Tall pine trees create a rustic “camping in the woods” experience and provide shade during the heat of the day.  Several picnic tables, raised BBQ grills, and campfire rings are available to share with your neighbors.  This camping area is open on a first come, first served basis and is perfect for tent camping or those with small trailers.  Everyone is welcome here and campground pickin’ will happen through the night, but please, no generators or amplified music.  The area along the south fence will be designated as a "quiet area" as it adjoins the Luke AFB camping area.  Most of the FFOTM members will stay here and FFOTM will host a Sunday morning pancake breakfast, where everyone’s invited.  Camping prices for the FFOTM Campground will be available soon.

Option 2 – The Carnival Lot.  FFOTM has reserved this area for larger RVs and vehicle camping.  There is ample space for the big rigs here and the solid level asphalt provides an easy and stable setup.  Pickin’ is allowed through the night, and it’s OK to run your generator here.  The Carnival Lot is just across the road from the FFOTM Campground.  Camping prices for the Carnival Lot will be available soon.

Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music will maintain and manage these two camping areas and we urge you to select one of the two options above.  Contact PIPinfo@pickininthepines.org for more information.

Option 3 – Fairgrounds Campground.  If the campgrounds above are filled, if you’re planning on coming early to the festival or staying late, if you'd like a campsite that is a little more quiet, or need hookups for your RV, this might be the place for you.  The Fairgrounds Campground has individually numbered campsites, with picnic tables and raised BBQ grills.  Lots of tall pine trees surround this area, so navigation may be difficult for the big rigs, although there are a few “pull-through” spots and a limited number of non-electrical hookups.  The Fairgrounds Campground is maintained and managed by Coconino County Parks and Recreation with friendly campground hosts, Tom and Cookie, on site.  Camping prices for the FFOTM Campground will be available soon.  All campsites are available by reservation only; you can call (928) 774-3464 to reserve your spot.

General Campground Rules:

1.       Above all, please be respectful of your fellow campers.  We're all here to have fun.  If you're planning on hosting a raucous all-night jam and you're right next to a family that is planning on peace and quiet, you may want to consider camping in another part of the campground.

2.       Campfires are OK.  Campfire rings are available and you may choose to bring your own above-ground fireplace.  Wood is available from the Fairgrounds Camp Hosts, or bring your own..  Campfires must NOT be left unattended.  Make sure yours is out before leaving the campground or retiring for the evening.

3.       All dogs must be on a leash at all times.  Dogs are not allowed in the festival grounds  If you must bring your pet, make sure it is restrained and is in a comfortable, secure location if left unattended.

4.       No disorderly conduct will be tolerated.  Anyone appearing intoxicated or displaying disruptive behavior will be asked to leave.
